Public Version 1:1,000,000 Fundamental Geographic Information Data
The National 1:1,000,000 Public Version Fundamental Geographic Information Data (2021) covers China's land area and major islands, including Taiwan Island, Hainan Island, Diaoyu Dao, and the South China Sea Islands, together with their adjacent waters. It contains 77 map sheets at 1:1,000,000 scale. The overall currency of the dataset is 2019. The data uses the China Geodetic Coordinate System 2000, the National Vertical Datum 1985, and geographic coordinates.
To meet public demand for geographic information data resources, and with authorization from the Ministry of Natural Resources, the National Geographic Information Resources Catalog Service System provides free downloads of all-layer features for the national 1:1,000,000 dataset. The downloadable data is distributed by standard 1:1,000,000 map sheets and includes nine datasets: hydrography; settlements and facilities; transportation; pipelines; boundaries and administrative divisions; landforms and soils; vegetation; place names and annotations. Spatial relationships between features and related attribute information are preserved.

The downloadable data is vector data, not a finished map. Its visual appearance differs from a symbolized map. When using this data to compile maps, users must strictly comply with the relevant provisions of the Regulations on Map Administration. If the compiled map will be made publicly available, the statutory map review procedure must also be completed.
Data Introduction
Data Organization
The National 1:1,000,000 Public Version Vector Data (2021) includes nine datasets: hydrography; settlements and facilities; transportation; pipelines; boundaries and administrative divisions; landforms and soils; vegetation; place names and annotations.
Layer names use four characters. The first character represents the data category, the second and third characters are abbreviations of the data content, and the fourth character represents the geometry type.
Map Sheets
The sheet division and numbering of national basic-scale topographic maps are fixed and are described in detail in the standard Sheet Division and Numbering for National Basic-Scale Topographic Maps (GB/T 13989-2012). For the 1:1,000,000 scale, the sheet division is as follows:

User Registration
Step 1: Register
On the homepage of the National Geographic Information Resources Catalog Service System, click Register to create a user account, as shown in Figure 1-1.
Enter the required user information in the pop-up page to register, as shown in the figure.
After registration, activate the account from the registered email address as shown in the figure.
Step 2: Log In
After the account is activated, return to the login page and log in, as shown in Figure 1-4.
Step 3: Maintain Personal Information
After login, the page redirects to the homepage. Click Personal Center, then edit the user's basic information on the page shown in Figure 1-5, including basic information and password changes.
Download Data
Use the positioning tool to locate data. You can locate by administrative region, road name, hydrographic feature name, place name, or map sheet.
For example, use administrative-region positioning to locate Hebei Province.
Click the successful query result on the right. The following four standard map sheets are displayed. The table lists the sheet number, production time, geodetic datum, and data format. Add all of them to the results cart.
Then open the results cart for checkout and click Checkout.
On the verification page, a special service selection appears in the bottom section. Ignore it and click Submit Order directly.
After submitting the order, a data download button appears on the order page. When downloading the data, you must fill in information. There are two pages of information to complete. Fill them in accurately and do not enter random values.
Use Data
Data Overview
The downloaded data is stored in geodatabase format. Each file is a ZIP archive, and the file name is the map sheet number.
After extraction, the result is a folder with the .gdb extension. Its file structure is not easy to read directly, so software that supports geodatabases is required.
Data Upload
Upload the data in ZIP format. iXGIS can directly recognize this data format and convert it into pgv, gpv, or shp data.

The correspondence between layer names and features is as follows:
- Naming rule: Layer names use four characters. The first character corresponds to the feature category, such as C, H, and R. The second and third characters are abbreviations of the data content, such as PT for survey control and HY for hydrography. The fourth character corresponds to the geometry type: P for point, L for line, and A for area.
- Feature categories: The data covers nine major categories based on the original description: positioning framework (C), hydrography (H), settlements and facilities (R), transportation (L), pipelines (P), boundaries and administrative divisions (B), landforms and soils (T), vegetation (V), and place names and annotations (A).
